New ownership. Chain ownership.  Similar menus but the food quality is much improved.    Furniture has been redone and the place has been  cleaned since our last disappointing trip under the prior name of Grand Buffet.

    KING BUFFET is much improved

If I could give no stars I WOULD!
Here's the thing.. I believe in second chances for almost anything, with food.. NOT ALWAYS.
    Yet here I am.
Walked in to JUST WALK RIGHT BACK OUT!!!
We walked in and the vibe and look was the same as last, no one up front to greet us, we stood there and waited to be seated until someone finally came.
Almost walked out then, that's not a good start.
The restaurant was completely dark in lighting just as the time before. The place wasn't welcoming at all, lighting the inside up would bring it to life. It was completely dead inside with no workers seen or people except 4 sitting where we were shown to sit.
We walked out to get food and the first place we went was to the grill area where me and my husband stood for a good minute, no body ever can out EVER.
Before we gave up and walked away, we were whatever about it since the food was hot and flys were all over it.
If someone came out then we would had spoke to them about it but we didn't get that chance did we?!
We both then moved on to the buffet area.. OMG!
I'm so irritated bc everything was the same except worse.
THERE WAS NO FOOD and if there was there wasn't much of it which was also cold.
Do you really serve this to your customers?
THIS PLACE IS A ABSOLUTE DISAPPOINTMENT!
I have no idea how it stays open.
Me and my husband love a good buffet king and this isn't one of them.
We stood talking at the buffet station and made the decision that this place wasn't worth our time or money.
Never any food or good food at that, good service or attention given here.
As we had our talk we put what we had down and walked right out. YES, WALKED RIGHT OUT!
We weren't there even 5 minutes.
And guess what, we left this location and drove straight to buffet king in Plano.
NOW THATS A PLACE YOU NEED TO VISIT.
Walk into Plano's location and then this one in McKenny and tell me the difference, there is a lot!
We will NEVER walk into this place ever, ever again!
Nor should I think anyone else should, good luck to whoever chooses their doom. BYE!

Pretty terrible. Got there Sunday at noon. Never been in that neighborhood but it's not ideal. The whole shopping center has been abandoned and the only business still operating is King's. I can't fathom why.
I am not going to drag this out... stay away. This is just a bad idea all together. You will regret every decision that led you through the doors. I would trust gas station sushi over any of the seafood offerings here. The "chicken"  was unnaturally difficult to chew. That ice cream idea is just weird, no thanks I will get my communicable diseases elsewhere.
    Don't do it. Just... don't.

Would not recommend. The reviews were mixed with recent reviews being favorable. We decided to give it a try.

We went during a weekday lunch, 8.99 per adult. The food was terrible. Very greasy, flavorless, lots of cornstarch in all the sauces. Did not try any rice or noodles dishes but most of the veggie/protein dishes was not good to me. The house special chicken was overly sweet. Did not finish my serving.

The only thing we liked here was the Mongolian stir fry station - you can choose your meats, vegetables, and sauces and they make it fresh to for you. The fruits were also pretty good and fresh. But that's not prepared so I can't give any weight to that.

Biggest turn off was when I saw hair in the broccoli and chicken! I told one of the workers and he was going to just pick it out until one of the other workers came and told him he had to get rid of the entire tray. I totally lost my appetite after that.

Overall, I would not return. I'm glad I tried it because now I can scratch it off my list. So far we haven't found any decent buffets around here.

We've been eating at King Buffet (or Grand Buffet...they can't seem to pick a name) for many years mostly because it's the closest Chinese buffet to our house.  It's in a run down strip mall that looks like it's only another year or two from closing.  They offer plenty of seating, but the place is starting to show it's wear - moldy ceiling tiles, etc.  The servers are generally pleasant and seat you quickly.  The food is generally ok when it's fresh, so you need to go during key lunch or dinner times, or you'll end up getting stuff that's been sitting in the steam table awhile.  We like the fact that they offer sushi and Mongolian Grill, but beyond that their food selection is rather limited and strays from the Chinese cuisine we're there for (I.e. offering crawfish, buffalo wings, pizza).  They offer crab legs on the weekends, but even though I love crab legs never don't bother....they are scrawny and pretty meatless.  They offer a lot of other "crab" dishes that I suspect are really "Krab" instead of real crab.  Their crab rangoons are oversized and made with a thick dough, which prevents them from being crunchy.  They also are mostly cream cheese with a slight crab flavoring.  As I said, we frequent this place because it is close, but would gladly drive to another one if we found a Chinese buffet was significantly better.  We're anxiously awaiting their new challenger, Asian Buffet, which is opening a block away on the site old the old Panda Buffet.
